Cervical smears

If possible please book into the cervical smear clinic run by the treatment room on Friday afternoons (tel 0117 9027131). If this is not possible then please try the well woman clinic (details below). If neither of these is possible then you can book a double appointment with Dr Muir through our reception.

Well Woman Clinic

This clinic is run by a doctor and a practice nurse, for smears, contraception and discussion of other women's health issues. It runs every Tuesday between 4.30 and 6.00pm. It is a walk-in clinic with no pre-bookable appointments and as such can be busy – so we advise you to attend between 4 and 4.30 to ensure that you get seen.

Family Planning

All doctors will give contraceptive advice and prescribe pills and depo injections. Dr Muir has a special interest in women health and fits coils including Mirena coils. Dr Everard also has a special interest in women’s health and fits implanon implants. Simply make an appointment in the usual way or come to the well-woman clinic to discuss contraceptive issues.

We have a scheme of subsidised condom sales via reception.

There is also a PCT-run Family Planning clinic in the health centre – you can call 0117 902 7111 for an appointment there.
